Episode 9 in
our INSPIRE20 podcast series features
Mark Martin. Mark is a computer science teacher, he holds an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his outstanding work in education,
tech and diversity and is the founder of
UKBlackTech an organization that advocates for “Creating the most diverse tech sector in the world”. Mark covers a variety of topics from the importance of needing
to do more work at the grass roots, how Black Lives Matter has acted as a catalyst for many tech firms and how in a lot of cases tech firms still have a “dinosaur” approach to I&D. Mark sends out a call for more 3-5 year sustainable strategies that are
action orientated. Mark wraps up with a call to action and warning that if we don’t do more to harness the Black talent available in tech, then we will continue to lose out on the valuable talent at our doorsteps in his context from the UK to other international
markets. This outstanding INSPIRE 20 podcast with Mark Martin can be found on Apple, Spotify, and
Soundcloud.
