Enterprise IT is known for having lots of applications. In most cases, a typical IT department does not know exactly how many apps they have. Most of the time, IT spends resources and money on maintaining these applications along the lower service stack. Many of these applications are not differentiating, and IT organizations are starting to outsource them or at least replace them with a SaaS model. The average IT department has an acute deficit of innovative, differentiating applications which speed up the digitization of their business, create the value and increase the company’s revenue. Central IT organizations are facing many problems today including questioning the relevance of systems and the heavy blast of systems which are necessary for business existence—but nothing more. These systems were not built overnight, and they cannot be solved overnight either.
